Hide and Seek Pets

By Heather Leigh
Illustrated by Judy Ziegler

“One, two, three, four, five…” Taylor counted for Hide and Seek.

The rabbit was almost hidden in the milk jug.

The pigs loved pretending they were fat pillows.

"Music will hide me," thought the armadillo.

The cat wanted to be alone.

“Ninety-eight, ninety-nine, one hundred,” Taylor counted for so long, the animals got tired of hiding.
“Ready or not, here I come,” Taylor called out.

“Oh no, this house is a mess!” cried Taylor.

The rabbit enjoyed the warm breeze.

Their snouts were better than a broom.

The armadillo chose lively music for vacuuming.

Taylor went to get a cleaning towel.
“Kittens!” cried Taylor.
Hop, snort and wiggle!
The cat had her kittens in the cupboard!

The rabbit brought the cat some cream.
The pigs brought feathers for the kittens to lie on.
The armadillo turned on soft music.
The cat mewed ‘thank you’ as her kittens went to sleep.

Taylor and her pets closed the cupboard door and tip toed away.
“We played a crazy game of Hide and Seek!” cried Taylor.
Hop, snort, and wiggle--they all agreed.
